Luton Inspired: Youth Music & Media Programme
“Cooperative enterprises help build a better world.”
United Nations, yesterday announced that 2012 is the International Year of Cooperatives. Rudi Page, CEO, RAFFA, “ we are inspired by the United Nations announcement and will adopt this theme” Our Passing the Baton initiative aims to inspire peaceful, caring & enterprising neighbourhoods for London 2012 Inspire Programme.
The General Assembly President underlined their role as catalysts of socially-inclusive development and capacity to empower communities through jobs and income generation. During 2012, efforts will be made to expand public awareness of the role of cooperatives – especially in relation to the fulfilment of the internationally-agreed poverty reduction and socio-economic development targets known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Efforts will also be made to encourage the growth of cooperatives worldwide and strengthen them through policies and legal frameworks that facilitate their growth.
