International Women’s Day: Celebrating the Women Behind RAFFA’s Mission

Every year on International Women’s Day, the world pauses to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and impact of women across every sector of society.

At RAFFA International Development Agency, this celebration carries special meaning. Women have been central to the organisation’s mission to promote social action, community empowerment, health awareness, and international development since its founding. RAFFA works across communities in the UK and internationally to address challenges such as poverty, health inequality, and access to education, while supporting sustainable development and humanitarian relief initiatives. Behind these efforts are dedicated women who give their time, expertise, and passion to uplift others.

Today, we take a moment not only to celebrate women globally, but also to recognise and thank the women whose commitment has strengthened RAFFA’s work and extended its reach into communities around the world.

Women Who Inspire RAFFA’s Work

Angela Clarke BEM

As CEO, Angela Clarke has been instrumental in guiding RAFFA’s vision and partnerships. Through her leadership, the organisation has expanded its community outreach programmes, strengthened collaborations, and raised awareness around health initiatives such as blood and organ donation campaigns. Her dedication continues to shape the strategic direction of RAFFA and amplify its impact.

Marva Dennis

Serving as an Appeal Co-ordinator, Marva Dennis has played a vital role in organising fundraising efforts and coordinating support for communities in need. Her work helps ensure that donations and resources reach those affected by disasters and humanitarian crises.

Norma Downes

Norma Downes founded the inspiring “God’s Storehouse” initiative, opening her own home to collect clothing, books, and essential supplies for communities in Africa and the Caribbean. Through collaboration with RAFFA, these donations have been transported overseas to support schools and families in need, helping to improve access to education and essential resources.

Hannah Stuart

Through the God’s Divine Blessings Ministry initiative, Hannah Stuart has worked tirelessly to bring joy and support to vulnerable families, particularly during the festive season. By coordinating donations of toys, clothing, and essential items for communities in Dominica, she has demonstrated the power of compassion and grassroots action.

DeAndrea Cameron

A dedicated young volunteer, DeAndrea Cameron has represented RAFFA at community events and advocacy gatherings. Her involvement highlights the importance of youth engagement and the next generation of leaders committed to strengthening communities and promoting positive change.

The Power of Women in Community Impact

The contributions of these women reflect a wider truth: when women lead, communities thrive. Across RAFFA’s programmes—from health campaigns and international development projects to local community engagement—women continue to drive meaningful progress.

Their efforts remind us that social change is often powered by individuals who quietly dedicate themselves to helping others, building bridges between communities, and inspiring future generations.

A Message of Gratitude

On this International Women’s Day, RAFFA extends heartfelt thanks to every woman who has contributed to the charity’s mission—whether as a leader, volunteer, donor, ambassador, or supporter. Your compassion, resilience, and commitment are the foundation upon which this work continues to grow.

Together, we celebrate not only what has already been achieved, but also the limitless potential of women to transform communities and create a more equitable world.

Happy International Women’s Day from everyone at RAFFA.
