Supporting Siloah Primary School:

A Story of Legacy, Community, and Hope

In the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica, sits an award‑winning institution that has shaped countless young minds: Siloah Primary School. Known for its dedicated teachers and strong sense of community, the school has long been a pillar of opportunity for local families. But like many historic schools, it now faces challenges that threaten its ability to offer the high‑quality education for which it is known.

Today, RAFFA is proud to stand beside Siloah Primary School as it works to safeguard its future — and the partnership carries a deeply personal significance.

A Generational Connection That Inspires Action

For many former students, Siloah Primary is more than just a school; it is a lasting chapter of family history. This is especially true for our CEO, Angela Clarke BEM, whose mother and uncle attended Siloah Primary more than 70 years ago. Their footsteps once echoed through the same hallways that today’s children walk, linking the past to the present in a powerful and intimate way.

This generational bond transforms RAFFA’s support from simple philanthropy into something far more meaningful: a tribute to legacy, community roots, and the enduring value of education.

During a recent international visit with Angelia Christian founder of Angel Foundation UK & JA, Angela Clarke met with O’Neil Larmond and witnessed first-hand the urgent need for building improvements. Much of the flooring is severely damaged or missing completely, creating an unsafe environment for children and limiting the school’s ability to operate effectively.

In addition, some classroom equipment — from chairs and tables to basic educational supplies — has become worn beyond repair. To truly thrive, the students of Siloah Primary School need a learning environment that matches their ambition and potential.

RAFFA’s Commitment: Laying the Groundwork for the Future

Motivated by both personal history and a strong belief in educational equity, RAFFA is launching a dedicated appeal to help refurbish Siloah Primary School. Our goals include:

  • Renovating the school’s flooring, replacing the missing and damaged sections.

  • Supplying new equipment, including classroom furniture and essential teaching materials.

  • Strengthening the learning environment, giving teachers and pupils the tools they need to succeed.

This project is not simply about repairs — it is about building a foundation that will support generations of children to come.

Why Personal Connections Matter

The best partnerships are built on trust, shared values, and genuine understanding. When donors have a personal connection to a school, their support carries additional layers of meaning:

  • Authentic storytelling: Families, staff, and students can see the direct through-line between the past and the future.

  • Long-term commitment: Multi-generational ties often create a deeper sense of responsibility and sustained involvement.

  • Community pride: Local stakeholders feel strengthened by a partnership rooted in history, love, and shared purpose.

In this case, RAFFA’s support represents more than financial aid — it is a celebration of heritage and hope.

A Message to the Community

To the students:You are part of a story far bigger than today. Every lesson you learn and every step you take adds to a legacy that spans generations.

To the teachers and staff:Your dedication keeps the heart of the school beating. With the right resources, your work can reach even further and inspire even more.

To donors and partners:Your generosity is a powerful force. It strengthens schools, lifts families, and shapes futures. Thank you for helping us continue this vital work.

To alumni and families:Your memories matter. Your stories matter. Your support helps keep Siloah’s legacy alive.
